COMMUNITY SEMINAR SESSIONS

The How to Reach Unchurched People in Your Community has an introduction followed by 8 sessions as presented below:

INTRODUCTION - 15 MINUTES

• Getting Acquianted and Opening Prayer

SESSION 1 - 60 MINUTES

• Foundations of Effective Outreach"

An overview of the day, along with the goals and assumptions of the seminar. A “pre-test” begins our thinking about effective (and sometimes not-so-effective) outreach and church growth.

SESSION 2 - 60 MINUTES

• How the Unchurched Become Churched

Fascinating research on the differences between new converts who become active church members and those who drop out, provides key insights for developing an effective outreach strategy that makes disciples…not just decisions.

SESSION 3 - 30 MINUTES

• Ministry-based Outreach: A Strategy That Works and, it’s fun!!

This session introduces a 4-step model for outreach that integrates research and observation of effective churches, and allows each individual congregation to build on its unique strengths and the passions of its people. The result is an enjoyable—and very effective—approach that will help every church that has a desire to reach out into their community to do with greater results.

SESSION 4 - 45 MINUTES

• Identify Your Ministry Focus Group (Step 1)

The process begins with considering the strengths that God has given to your individual church, and then building on those strengths to identify the “people groups” in your community who will be most receptive to your church.

SESSION 5 - 35 MINUTES

• Connect With People Outside Your Church (Step 2)

There is no question that the primary means of outreach and evangelism today is the same as it has been since New Testament—relationships. This session presents a practical way to create and nurture new relationships with unchurched people, based on common interests and concerns.

SESSION 6 - 25 MINUTES

• Strengthen Relationships With Your New Fiends (Step 3)

Meaningful relationships don’t just happen. They require time and attention. Here we will consider guidelines for nurturing healthy and growing relationships with new friends (as well as old). It is these relationships that God can use to “channel” his love to unchurched people in your community.

SESSION 7 - 30 MINUTES

• Expand Your Contacts With New (Step 4)

With a ministry that is attracting people and affecting lives, there’s no reason to keep it to yourself! This final step in the model provides for a creative and effective way to connect with more people in your community who will be responsive to your ministry and Christ’s body—your church.

SESSION 8 - 15 MINUTES

• Getting From Here ... To There

So, now what? What’s the first step? What’s the next? This brief session presents some helpful guidelines for beginning the process of becoming a more effective, attractive, need-meeting, Christ-honoring church in your community.
